Rolex Datejust ref. 6305 ‘Ovettone’ - 1953

An early Datejust reference from Rolex, this ref. 6305 dates to 1953. These early 50s refs have long been adored by collectors and were affably nicknamed ‘Ovettone’ by the Italians due to its egglike domed caseback. The 6305-1 variants that sport the famed waffle dials are serious auction pieces that regularly command six figured. This example features a warm, creamy silver dial paired whth dauphine hands that give the wearer all the same vintage charm without the big price tag. The watch is fresh to market, I purchased it from the estate of the original owner. It came on its original and rare JB Champion big logo Rolex jubilee bracelet. The red font date disc is the cherry on top, giving the watch a splash of color.
